HYDERABAD April 1. A gang involved in fake educational certificate racket was busted by the Task Force of city police. Five members of the gang have been arrested while the police are on the lookout for four other accomplices.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the Additional Commissioner of Police (Co-ordination), A.K.Khan, said this was the 20th gang to be arrested on charge of preparing fake educational certificates and selling the same to people intending to go abroad.
Acting on a tip-off, the South Zone Task Force picked up Mir Ahmed Ali (31), Md.Majid Hussain (19), Mohd.Faheemuddin (19), Mohd.Sajiduddin (18) and Mohd.Wajahad Moinuddin (30). He said the police were continuing efforts to apprehend the absconding accused -- Mohd.Khaleel, Muneer, Ghouse and Sarvar Khan.
During raids at Jamal Market, Chatta Bazar and Chawni Nade Ali Baig, the police seized about 550 fake educational certificates apart from two computers, one scanner, one laser jet colour printer and screen-printing material.
Mr.Khan said the accused were using a highly sophisticated printer, costing around Rs.3 lakhs.
The accused were said to be preparing fake certificates of 25 different universities and other education boards. These incldue courses such as M.B.A., engineering and medicine. The Additional Commissioner said the gang would have created about 2,000 fake certificates and sold them.
